Mayer Brown and FSLA would like to invite you to an evening panel discussion on Tuesday September 23rd, 6 – 8pm at the offices of Mayer Brown, 201 Bishopsgate, London, EC2M 3AF.

Deborah Sabalot (Barrister and FSLA advisory board member) will chair discussions from a panel compromising:

  • Iona Levine (Barrister, Minerva Chambers and ex GC of LCH Clearnet)
  • Alex Carr (Of Counsel, Mayer Brown)
  • Huong Hauduc (‎Senior Director and Associate General Counsel – EMEA at CME Group)
  • Fiona Taylor (Director of European Policy, ISDA)
  • Caroline Dawson (Senior Associate, Clifford Chance)
  • Caroline Binham (Financial Times Legal Correspondent)

Panellists will share views and experiences as successful women in the financial services industry and on a range of current topics covering:

  • MiFID II
  • EMIR
  • Benchmark Regulation
  • Dodd-Frank

The event will be relaxed and discursive and discussions will be opened up to the floor for questions. Tea and coffee will be served from 6pm, with the panel discussion at 6:30 and drinks at 8pm.

Winners of the 2014 Student Essay Competition Announced

We are very happy to announce the winners of the 2014 student essay competition, the title of which was:

‘Pay day’ lenders charging 1000% interest are best controlled by competition not regulation: discuss.

First Place goes to Ryan Byrne, who is awarded a £1500 cash prize and a summer internship at the FCA. Congratulations to Ryan.

Second place goes to Kristine Kozicki and third place to Adam Grant, who are awarded £500 and £250 cash prizes respectively.

We received some very strong submissions this year so we would like to say thank you to everyone who entered, and congratulations to the winners.
