MiFID II v PRIIPs – A FSLA and Latham & Watkins Seminar, 10 October 2017

The Financial Services Lawyers Association (FSLA) and Latham & Watkins would like to invite you to attend an evening seminar on Tuesday 10th October, 6.30pm, to be followed by a drinks and canapés reception.

Nicola Higgs and Anne Mainwaring from Latham & Watkins and Lucia Pivetta from Morgan Stanley who also chairs the British Banker’s Association’s (BBA) working group will discuss key areas of cross-over between the Packaged Retail and Insurance-based Investment Products Regulation (PRIIPs) which will apply from 1 January 2018 and the recast Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) which will apply from 3 January 2018. Topics will include product scope, costs and charges disclosure, overlaps with the product governance regime as well as instances where reliance on PRIIPs KIDs is permitted under MiFID II.

EMIR margin rules for uncleared OTC derivatives – A FSLA and Allen & Overy panel event, 27 September 2017

The Financial Services Lawyers Association (FSLA) and Allen & Overy (A&O) would like to invite you to attend an evening panel event on Wednesday 27th September, 6.00pm, to be followed by canapés and drinks.

Paul Cluley (Partner, A&O) will chair a panel comprising Heather Pilley (Markets Policy, FCA), Tom Roberts (Partner, A&O), Shalini Sharma (Managing Legal Counsel, NatWest Markets) and Simon Wayne (Senior Managing Lawyer, Insight Investment) to discuss the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) rules which came into effect from 4 February 2017 requiring in-scope counterparties to exchange margin on OTC derivatives that are not cleared through a central counterparty (CCP).

The panel will discuss differences in regulatory regimes and approaches to implementation, substituted compliance, sell-side, buy-side and law firm challenges and experiences, key areas of legal uncertainty and future developments as well as other related topics. The event will close with a Q&A over canapés and drinks.

MiFID II v MAR – A FSLA and Linklaters Seminar, 3 May 2017

The Financial Services Lawyers Association (FSLA) and Linklaters would like to invite you to attend an evening seminar on Wednesday 3rd May, 6.30pm, to be followed by a drinks reception.

Speakers from Linklaters and the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) will discuss key areas of cross-over between the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) which came into force on 3 July 2016 and the recast Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) which will come into force on 3 January 2018. Topics will include surveillance, data and record keeping, investment recommendations and inducements. The seminar will also cover the standalone topic of market soundings.
